MIDI has three implementations: MMC (MIDI Machine Control), MSC (MIDI
Show Control), and simple MIDI control. What you're looking for is a
lighting console that has an implementation of simple MIDI control; My
only experience with this is in syncing to ETC consoles, which do not
have a simple MIDI implementation (they do have a MMC and/or MSC
implementation). Taking a quick look at the Jands Vista manual reveals
no MIDI control information (other than indicating MIDI input/output
sockets), which makes me suspect the console is probably only using
MSC, which is used to send "play," "stop," "rewind" type commands
between master and slave devices. I'd call Jands directly and ask
about their MIDI implementation. If what you're hoping to do is
possible, they'll need to send you a MIDI implementation chart to help
you map MIDI control/program changes (like Note On/Note Off, etc,
which happen when you play the keyboard) to submaster control.
Good luck, and post how it works out in the end!
