Parker,

Using a time code slate slaved to your 702T is the way to go here. You
are providing a perfectly viable visual/numerical sync point for your
editor. There is no way (that I am aware of) to get time code into the
HVX via the FW port. As for using a separate audio channel for time
code, why bother? You are essentially doing the same thing with the
time code slate. You can provide an audio program reference "scratch
track" channel via comtek wireless to the camera. That would be more
usable to the editor than a time code audio channel. Besides, unless
your NLE system can actually read time code from an audio channel, you
are wasting your time.
