Hello Mark,
I have listened to and had a good look at the H4 supermini and find it
to be quite an incredible microphone. It can provide 6 discrete
outputs via 1/8" mini connectors if you so desire, but most people
will be using the onboard Dolby Prologic encoder. This allows for
prologic encoding to a stereo signal. This is not true Dolby
Digital, but it is a step up from stereo.
The unit is camera-mountable and battery powered so it travels well.
I keep in touch with a couple of documentarians using Holophone
products and they have been very pleased.
