The children I've encountered who have been home schooled have lost a
great deal more than they gained - and that gets truer the older the
child being home-schooled. Most parents simply are not qualified to
teach the broad range of specialised subject areas at the high school level.

That's true - but it doesn't mean that parents should provide the
ammunition, and some do.
