No, I am saying that
1. both TOD and continuous code have their pros and cons in an everyday
workflow
2. different projects may require different choices.

Actually, one of the scenarios I desribed was an instance where it was pure
set convenience that we decided NOT to go with TOD, and it actually meant
more hours of work for the first assistant editor. So, actually and
practically, NO, I did not mean that every decision is or should be made for
the sake of postproduction, and I'm not sure why you would think that.

I don't get where this whole "us vs. them" thing stems from. It happens
quite often on this NG. In my experience team effort leads to excellence.
"The way to do things" is something that needs to be agreed on, I reckon. By
everyone involved.

For the record: yes, I would love it if my Avids were able to autodetect TC
breaks and subdivide during capture, without preroll. But as for now, they
cannot. Neither can the competition, BTW. I'm guessing it has to do with the
way decks are being controlled in video environments, as well as with the
fact that NLEs don't actually capture timecode, they only capture a starting
number. I have neither the time nor the skills to reprogram the software for
it. So it currently bears little relevance to this discussion.
