: orthodox Christianity provided a fundamental part of a public school child's
: education in the early years of our republic. That this was by design. This
: reality flies in the face of all who claim that the teaching of Christianity
: has no place in the classroom. It was explicitly taught for over 150 years.
And for people like my mother, who was required to recite the Lord's Prayer
every day as part of her public school education -- even though the student
body of her elementary school was 90% Jewish -- well, I guess it was just
too bad.
