Changing the framing story so it's a heartwarming tale a grandfather
tells his sick grandson, instead of the bitter story of William
Goldman searching for a copy for his son and being disappointed that
S. Morganstern's novel is longwinded and overly philosophical, and
giving the film a straight-out Hollywood ending instead of the
"Well, the version my father told me they escaped and lived happily
ever after, but Morganstern ended on a bleak note that suggested
they were all going to die, so I'll leave it up to you to decide
which one you prefer" -- these are major alterations.
