Christopher, I'm still waiting to hear how Ben Jonson got on your list
of people who doubted that his personal friend Shakespeare wrote the
works. Jonson's tributes and writings, public and personal, clearly
identify the guy from Stratford as the writer. He's the one who
called the poet "Sweet Swan of Avon" (Avon being the river that runs
through Stratford).

An old joke goes, "William Shakspeare didn't write his plays. It was
someone else of the same name." The sad thing is, it's no joke!
That's actually what you anti-Stratfordians have deluded yourselves
into believing.

When you look more closely at who your fellow anti-Stratfordians are,
Christopher, you may be disillusioned. The authors of these Oxfordian
books turn out to be retired navy captains and others with no
scholarly or academic background, and generally much interest in
paranormal phenomena ... the most recent Oxfordian bestseller was
penned by a guy whose other two books are:

1. A volume deciphering "secret codes" in Norse poetry, and
2. A book explaining how the author used telepathy to find the true
location of the sunken continent Atlantis.

If you're happy in that company, Christopher, I leave you to them.
Meanwhile I'll gladly remain with the group that includes EVERY SINGLE
SCHOLAR of Elizabethan history and literature, the group that finds
the persistence of these mad theories, in the absence of even a single
bit of evidence, both hilarious and rather sad.
