Given quality microphones, my rule of thumb in PA situations has been that
the mic closest to the mouth always sounds better. I also feel that a
presenter with a stick mic or podium mic that is working properly, usually
projects less that he/she would if unmiked which means the lav performs even
worse for you. Best scenario of course is an ear worn boom type of mic like
a Countryman E-6 etc but I usually can't get producers to buy into it.
