Subject: Recording mobile phones

Hello all,

I have a slightly unusual job in a weeks time involving a continuous
45 minute real time "take" for Radio.

Its fiction, and we will have multiple attempts.

The challange is to cover the drama in real time and there are
multiple characters, multiple locations and also

mobile phone conversations.

Luckly we are following only one character through the story, who he
meets, his phone calls etc.

We need to record the mobile conversations (the other end as well) and
my experience with doing this in

the past has not been great due to the interference? generated by the
mobile handset itself.

Has anybody grappled with mobile phone recordings before and had
success?

We have 4 channels, 2 for an M+S pair and 2 for RF personal mics.

Also on a different note, its a london based shoot so its going to be
fairly noisy, has anybody used

an interference tube, a mkh60 or a schoeps CMIT, as part of an M+S
configuration? Does it have a

noticable effect on the stereo image ultimately gained?

Any help, advice or comments would be greatly aprreciated,
